A network to share best practices for children with special needs

We often get asked questions from frustrated parents who aren't sure how to approach a school system when their children are falling between the cracks or not thriving in school. The first question to a parent or struggling teacher should be, "have you approached your team?" When providing education, therapy and motivation to a child who may be in need of extra resources, it's paramount that the entire team sit down together to discuss the best approach. This discussion should include people such as the child's parents, teachers, principal, school psychologist, therapists (Speech Therapist, OT and PT) and anyone else involved with the child. Make sure that the entire team can attend the meeting so that everyone is in the loop.

We are sure that you have seen advocacy that works well and times where it has "flopped." Let us know some of the best tips for pulling the team together and what works and what doesn't work.
