Have a new grandchild.  He has bilateral UE weakness, right significantly greater than left and also has a right MF contracture at the PIP joint.  Tends to keep right hand fisted (thumb out).  Showed PROM techniques, suggested they use the wrist rattle to increase visual/auditory interaction with the RUE,  Provided lights/sound play mats, to encourage prone weight bearing and supine/sidelying reach.  Any other suggestions????????

This is why I am passionate about special needs.
Our children/clients want everything the world has to offer, just as we all do. They just need a little help to meet the daily challenges. But when they succeed they have a joy like no other! That is why I feel privileged to work with people with Special Needs. I get a chance to share in thier unbelievable joy of mastery.
Skills: these are areas where I have expertise and might be able to help others.
FINE MOTOR, INTEGRATIVE THERAPIES, POSITIONING, SENSORY SOLUTIONS, VISUAL MOTOR
Needs: these are areas where I have questions and will be looking to learn from others.
BODY WORKS, FINE MOTOR, INTEGRATIVE THERAPIES, VESTIBULAR ORIENTATION
The most valuable piece of advice I would offer to others regarding special needs.
Never stop asking "how" and trust your gut.
What I hope to gain from My Special Needs Network
Sharing of resources and success stories.
