- This is why I am passionate about special needs.
- I am a parent of an autistic boy. He is 17 yrs. old and a triplet. I am a handler of my golden retriever. i've been a pet therapist for 20 years. I began at University Hopsitals of cleveland pioneering pet therapy. I began working with special needs children 17 yeqrs ago. and continue. With absolute joyl Because opening up their senses is out of this world!!

- Be patient, be sensitive, open your mind and heart, relax with them. They will also teach us so very much!
- What I hope to gain from My Special Needs Network
- knowledge, for my life, my interactive pet therapy in the schools with special needs children. For my son, and for the the special needds organizations where I am involved with. Two national organiztions: Friendship Circle and Yachad. My dog andI are the first ever pet therapy teams in their history. Breaking new ground.

I write a weekly blog for the network and would love to hear from you. We want to make sure that we are addressing issues that are important to parents! Please let me hear from you regarding any topics that are near and dear to your heart or any issues for which you have a concern. We want to address anything that is important to you. It sounds like you have a lot of knowledge to share- first-hand knowledge from a parent's perspective and knowledge as an expert in the field!
One issue that I am very passionate about is the education of “our” children. I am a former Director of Special Education and worked very hard to make sure the children were receiving appropriate accommodations so that they could achieve to their potential.
