"My solution was to leave the system  which, for us, was broken/ineffective.  If you can't afford to do this for whatever reason, I suggest enlisting the help of an arbitrator -- or an attorney.  There are also services for the…"

Profile Information

My Role
Parent, Other
Place of Work
a large Texas school district
This is why I am passionate about special needs.
Both my son and I have Asperger Syndrome
Skills: these are areas where I have expertise and might be able to help others.
COMMUNICATION
Needs: these are areas where I have questions and will be looking to learn from others.
BALANCE, BODY WORKS, COMMUNICATION, FINE MOTOR, FURNITURE, INTEGRATIVE THERAPIES, POSITIONING, RESOURCES, SENSORY SOLUTIONS, VESTIBULAR ORIENTATION, VISUAL MOTOR
The most valuable piece of advice I would offer to others regarding special needs.
With AS kids, they have a tendency to be misunderstood. Many think they're smart aleks or are being intentionally defiant/disobedient. Many have a deep need to understand the concepts behind social norms and find it nearly impossible to adhere to them without understanding. The same applies to instructions.
What I hope to gain from My Special Needs Network
Further resources to help my son with his sensory overload, focusing and social skills
