The Sensory Processing Measures (SPM &SPM-P): QUICK TIPS

Howdy,I am in the process of writing the User Guide for the SPMs Quick Tips, an electronic program to help teams develop sensory-based strategies to be implemented at home, at day care and throughout the school in the Main Classroom, Art, PE, Music, Playground, Cafeteria and Bus.I am wanting to include in the Quick Tips User Guide some sample reports that can be developed quickly and can be easily understood by all on the team. Sensory Processing Disorder symposium: SPD does exist!

The SPD Symposium was one of the best conferences I have ever attended!  It was a honor to present the parent workshop, where we played and shared throughout the day while bouncing on balls. Parents as well as an adult with SPD also bravely shared their stories...we cried, laughed and danced together. The Scientific Work Group met and shared their research. How fantastic to hear scientists, neurologists and therapists all confirm that SPD DOES EXIST and that though a large % of those with Autism…See More

This is why I am passionate about special needs.
My mission is to help the world have compassion and understanding of how sensory integration and sensory processing impact living... throughout the life span... at home, at school, and in the community.
Skills: these are areas where I have expertise and might be able to help others.
SENSORY SOLUTIONS
Needs: these are areas where I have questions and will be looking to learn from others.
BALANCE, BODY WORKS, COMMUNICATION, FINE MOTOR, FURNITURE, INTEGRATIVE THERAPIES, MOBILITY, POSITIONING, RESOURCES, SENSORY SOLUTIONS, VESTIBULAR ORIENTATION, VISUAL MOTOR
The most valuable piece of advice I would offer to others regarding special needs.
We all have 'special needs' related to how we process and integrate sensory information. We can empower families, teachers and all other individuals to collaborate and develop sensory safe spaces and strategies that support each person's needs.
What I hope to gain from My Special Needs Network
1. Information on the latest research re neurodevelopment and neurophysiology related to sensory integration and sensory processing.
2. Information on the latest materials and products developed by the School Specialty Special Needs Team
3. Feedback on the 'Sensory Tools' workshops I present
4. Networking and collaboration with colleagues related to sensory processing and sensory integration

I hope you had some sunny skies in Michigan? I mentioned you in Friday's blog. Were you able to start getting photos or video clips? I am still checking into Australia distribution. More soon.
