A network to share best practices for children with special needs
Permalink Reply by Carrie-Anne Irby on May 28, 2012 at 9:03pm As a teacher I feel homeschooling a special needs student could have it's benefits. It truly depends on the child and disability. Social skills are important and I would recommend including social interactions in the curriculum. There are many homeschooling blogs that offer great ideas for all children. One that I love is http://wecandoallthings.blogspot.com/. This mom homeschools all her kids including your youngest who has down syndrome. Also be sure to contact the local school system and see what resources they will provide including speech, OT, and PT. As a special education teacher I would love to be a resource for you and you are welcome to contact me anytime at ca121980@yahoo.com.
